1.5 million Windows Phone 7 devices sold in the first two months

Microsoft reports that Windows Phone 7 manufacturers sold 1.5 million phones in its first two months in the market. No figure was given as to how many were bought by users. Considering that about 54 million smartphones are sold in a two month period the, the 1.5 million phones is 2.8%. That is the same as the Windows Mobile 6.5 market share in the quarter before Windows Phone 7 was released. And it is only a third of the market share of Windows Mobile in the previous year. Despite Microsoft's enthusiasm, that is not a very good start.
