Samsung Series 5 NP535U3C-P01PH

Samsung Series 5 laptops are primarily designed as ultrabooks. Samsung does make a variant of the Series 5 which does not meet Ultrabook standards, in the case of the Samsung NP535U3C-P01PH, it does not use an Intel processor and it does not have a SSD drive or  SSD cache. The advantage of building Ultrabook looking laptops with lower cost parts is that you have benefits of a highly portable laptop at the fraction of the price of an Ultrabook.

The Samsung NP535U3C-P01PH, is a 13.3-inch laptop which weighs a bit less than 3.4 pounds and a chassis just 0.69-inches thin at a price of Php25,900. This basically, gives you the physical equivalent of a Apple MacBook Air or Asus Zenbook at less than half the price.

Inside the slim chassis sits a AMD Dual Core A4-4355M accelerated processing unit. This processor score a decent 1209 point in the PassMark CPU benchmarks. That is about the performance level of an Intel Core2 Duo from several years ago, but still enough to satisfy the needs of the typical user. Good enough for web browsing, editing photos, viewing HD content and preparing documents, spreadsheets and presentations. It can even do a bit of 3D gaming. Helping the Samsung NP535U3C-P01PH feel zippy is 4 GB of RAM.

The screen on the Samsung NP535U3C-P01PH is the standard 1366 x 768 display you find on most laptops. While this is a Windows 8 laptop, it does not come with a touchscreen.

The Samsung NP535U3C-P01PH is also equipped with a 500 GB hard drive, SDCard reader, USB 3.0 and HDMI out. A 4-cell battery is supplied with the unit, which should be good enough to power the laptop for about four hours in regular users. Samsung utilizes BatteryLife Plus technology, which it claims can allows the battery to be charged and discharged for up to 1500 cycles which is twice a long as typical batteries, so it should be good for three to four years of use.

Overall it is one of the best options in its price range.
