Huawei Ascend W1 - Windows Phone 8 Priced Right

The Huawei Ascend W1, is Huawei's first Windows Phone 8 device. It is has a 4-inch display, 4 GB of storage expandable via a microSD card, a dual core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Krait processor, a 5 MP primary camera and VGA front camera for a the price of Php8,990. This makes is the lowest cost device with the vaunted Qualcomm Krait processor and the cheapest Windows Phone 8 device in the market.

Go into the specifications more, and it does not disappoint. The radio is HSPA+ capable. The battery is a very healthy 1950 mAh unit. In terms of software, the phone comes with Microsoft Office and Outlook.

Overall, I like it much better than Nokia Lumia 620, mainly because of the 50% larger battery and the larger display.

It is the right phone at the right price. The hardware is a good deal whatever operating system it comes with. The price is low enough so that Windows Phone 8 can target a wider market and really give Android a run for its money.

As for Huawei, phone like this and the Android powered Y300D, should give Samsung good reason to look over it shoulder.

  1. That is a very nice looking handset.

I would really love to see more Huawei here in Canada, they make nice things at a good price.

Windows Phone 8 is actually pretty good too. I figure I could use one.
