  1. There is a lot of difference in watching a review or assessing a device on paper than using it yourself. I see people are complimenting the Xperia z just coz of its water/dustproof features but it is more than that. Xperia Z has touched the limits in build quality and produces real colors unlike over saturated AMOLED.
White becomes blue blue becomes sea green dark yellow becomes orange. May b it does not matter to Sammy fans coz they like to play with things like dual cam and boast about a so called octa core but for many who work on client communications in ad related stuffs it becomes really important. Real colors have corporate and industrial value. Morover HDR is absent in s4 .For me its really a critical factor, and i believe that it will give better returns than these gimmicky tech in the longer run. Another factor, the 2 quad core(touted as octacore) are based on ARM architecture. While xperia Z gives a single quadcore, it is based on an advanced KRAIT architecture developed by Qualcom. Read about the caching mechanism of 28nm KRAIT vs ARM you will get a gist that the S4 snapdragon based on a KRAIT can perform faster on many ocassions if not all.
Moreover the basic firmware developed by the companies upon android also matters as GS3 also had a quad core but still lagged here and there however xperia Z and HTC one both are totally lag free despite carrying a quad core processor.
Apart from that mobile phones are perceived through the medium of sight and sound and Sony rocks in sound. Samsung cant even think of competing Sony in sound.
At last, its easy to create software that can records your voice in a pic or allow a useless dual cam mode but it takes a lot of hard work and skills to isolate an IC, a set of speakers and ports from water that can save your expensive phone. Even HTC deserves a salute as it dared to do away with the conventional megapixel cam.
Its upto people now whether they want to go for a 42k phone that looks like it costs 5k or search, analyze and try them out at a retail shop, wait for a few days and then make a purchase decision.
Dont be a passionate buyers guys. Dont spend your hard earned money on something that is not worth it.
