ZTE V956 Blade E - Budget priced quad core Android phone

ZTE has released its V956 Blade E in the Philippines. The Blade E is a 4.5-inch Android phone powered by a 1.2 GHz quad core Qualcomm S4 Play processor. The specifications are almost identical to Cherry Mobile Flame 2.0, unfortunately the similarity includes bundling a rather anemic 1600 mAh battery.

Quick specifications:
  • Android 4.1
  • 4.5-inch FWVGA (480 x 854) display
  • Dual sim support
  • 4 GB internal storage expandable via a MicroSD card slot
  • 512 MB RAM
  • 1.2 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Processor
  • Adreno 203 graphics
  • 5 MP autofocus primary camera with LED Flash
  • 0.3 MP front camera
  • HSPA
  • WiFi
  • Bluetooth
  • A-GPS
  • 1600 mAh battery

The differences. The Blade E is actually a lower spec, lower priced model when compared to the Flame 2.0. The Blade E is priced at Php6,300, which is lower than the Php6,999 asking price for the Flame 2.0. On the other hand the Blade E has a lower resolution FWVGA display (480 x 854) as against the qHD (540 x 960) display of the Flame 2.0. The deal breaker is the equipped RAM. The Blade E comes with 512 MB, half the 1 GB you find in the Flame 2.0.

As stylish as ZTE V956 Blade E looks, with its stylish on screen keys, the Cherry Mobile Flame 2.0 is your best bet for a budget priced power.

  1. Does it really just boil down to specs on paper? Then why are the big name brands like NOKIA, HTC, etc. have double or triple or quadruple the price of Filipino and China phones with the same specs?

Have you tried using the wifi of the china phones (or rebranded as pinoy phones)? They are a joke!

How long will these china phones last? 5 months?

A quadcore phone for 7000 pesos? Where do you think this quad core processors come from? Must be rejects of bygone years.

  5. Cherry mobile are re branded phones from Konka China and Karbonn India, both manufacturers are of shady or very bad reputation and quality control. They are throwaway phones. not even a decent website for technical support. While Cherry Mobile is trying its best to have a useful website, it's service support would still depend on the source company. The source company don't make quality phones, much more supply parts, so does Cherry Mobile. the best they can offer for support is change unit, they can't sustain it, they would go bankrupt, so they pump their new models with higher specs, sell it for a low price, consumers grab it, not knowing that after sales support is almost non existent. CM , Konka and Karbonn save a lot by not providing on after sales ,parts replacement, the one year warranty, RMA exist only on paper, Consumers who where stunned by the advertised specs loses.
