When it comes to low cost tablets, the Cherry Mobile Fusion Bolt has been pretty much impossible to beat. It is really about price. There are other tablets with a 7-inch HD display, quad core processor and 1 GB of RAM. But they all cost almost double the price of the Php3,999 Fusion Bolt. You really have to wonder whether Cherry Mobile is making any money from selling the Fusion Bolt, or it is an attempt to destroy its competition. When you look at Cherry Mobile's newest tablet, you realize how hard it is to beat the Fusion Bolt.
The Cherry Mobile Fusion Wind, priced at Php5,999, is a nice enough offering. It has an 8-inch display, with a 1024 x 768 screen resolution. This is notably lower than the 1280 x 800 screen resolution on the lower cost Fusion Bolt.
Quick specifications:
- Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean
- 8-inch XGA (1024 x 786) IPS display
- 4 GB internal storage expandable via a MicroSD card slot
- 1 GB RAM
- 1.5 GHz dual core Rockchip RK3066 processor
- Mali-400MP graphics
- 2 MP primary camera
- VGA front camera
- WiFi
- USB On-the-Go (3G Dongle supported)
- No Bluetooth and GPS
- 4000 mAh battery
The new Fusion Wind performs well. Ilonggo Tech Blog benchmarked the Fusion Wind with the Antutu benchmarks, and it performed very well, at 11253 points. This is just a bit shy of 12042 points which was scored by the Fusion Bolt.
All in all, it is the best low cost 8-inch tablet in the market. Still it cost all of 2K more than the 7-inch HD Fusion Bolt.
